As the holiday season fast approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to encourage our network to support and remember those in need as you enter the new year.

We have had the opportunity to work with a number of incredible organisations this year, which are doing fantastic work in their local communities.

Uniting’s ‘Food for Families’ annual food collection appeal

As part of its ‘Food For Families’ annual food collection appeal, Uniting is encouraging Australians to donate non-perishable food this Christmas to support those in need.

For many people experiencing illness, violence, homelessness or crisis, Christmas can be one of the most difficult times of the year. The CVA team is working to fill boxes with non-perishable pantry staples and assist Food for Families in reaching their goal of providing 60 tonnes of essential items to members of the community in need.

Every year, 3.6 million Australians experience food insecurity. FareShare is tackling this issue head-on by rescuing surplus, quality food from supermarkets, farmers and other businesses, to cook and share nutritious meals for those in need.

Between April and June this year, the CVA team rolled up their sleeves to help FareShare cook nutritious savoury pastries. More than 4,000 meals were prepared to, with the team cracking eggs, dicing ingredients, cutting pastry, lining trays and packing cooked meals.

FareShare is a hunger-fighting organisation we have been proudly supported since 2014 - a reminder that so much more can be provided those in need than just financial support.

Love Me Love You

In March this year, the CVA team participated in the annual Love Me Love You ‘March with Me’ to help raise money for mental health.

All money raised supports Love Me Love You’s commitment to foster positive change in the mental health outcomes of Young Australians. The organisation delivers mental health education and Emotional Wellbeing programs to schools, sports community clubs and workplaces. Through its accredited programs, Love Me Love You has been able to make a positive impact on those suffering in silence and have helped hundreds of people seek professional help.

Embracing Love Me Love You’s mantra that, ‘No One Travels Their Journey Alone’, a group of CVA team members took part in the March alongside hundreds of individuals, families, friends and companies. The team has been participating in the March since 2014 and it has become a regular event on our team calendar.

Registrations are now open for the 2018 March with Me event - visit the website now to register your group and support Love Me Love You’s fight against mental illness:
